The Two Circles Athlete Programme offers current or recently retired full time athletes from any sport a one week immersive work experience opportunity. We hope this will help athletes to feel more confident as they step away from performance sport, and also help them to discover what opportunities there are within the sport business industry should they wish to pursue one.
We welcome a diverse range of athletes and previously have had athletes representing GB Figure Skating, GB Rowing, GB Rugby 7s, GB Alpine Skiing, GB Hockey, GB Kayaking, GB Judo, GB Skeleton, British Gymnastics, British Cycling, British Athletics, British Swimming and professional cricket players representing First Class Counties and professional rugby and netball players.
WHAT IS THE TWO CIRCLES ATHLETE PROGRAMME?
The Two Circles Athlete Programme is a one-week intensive and immersive experience designed to help athletes who want to build a career in the sports industry. It consists of a series of presentations and workshops designed to:
- Showcase the breadth of work that goes on in the sports industry to help identify interests and where opportunities lie
- Help individuals grow their personal brands to enable commercial opportunities, both as an athlete looking for sponsorship opportunities and as a future employee
- Enhance tangible core technical skills
WHY IS THE PROGRAMME BENEFICIAL FOR ME?
As a company and as a team we want the sports industry to be as inclusive as possible, and that includes by helping athletes – who we know to have a unique insight into sport and drive from competing at the highest level. By having more current and former athletes working in the sports industry, we believe the sports industry can deliver more for more people.
Through the Two Circles Athlete Programme we therefore want to:
- Provide you with an opportunity to gain valuable skills and experience to enhance your CV
- Allow you to grow confidence in your ability to transition into an alternative career once your sporting career comes to an end
- Help your well-being by giving you a different additional focus
- Give you a chance to build your network and profile to help you both now and in the future.
WHEN WILL THE 2026 PROGRAMME TAKE PLACE?
The next cohort will join us in the London Office on the week commencing 21st September 2026. You will need to be available to be in the office every day.
WHO CAN JOIN THE PROGRAMME?
We’re looking for 12 athletes, aged 18 – 40, who have been in their full-time sporting environment for two or more years and have an interest in working within the sports industry in future. Ideally we’re looking for athletes in the latter stage of their career, or who have recently retired.
