Bryce Harper, right-fielder of the Philadelphia Phillies, has quickly become a household name among American sports fans and non-sports fans alike. In 2019, the Phillies signed Harper to a 13-year, $330 million contract, the then second largest in baseball history. Shortly after, sales of Harper’s replica jersey set a record for any player in any sport in the first 24 hours.

Harper led the Phillies to the 2022 World Series against the Houston Astros. However, shortly after, he had to take a pause to undergo Tommy John surgery. The speed of his return from this surgery was unprecedented; he was cleared to play 159 days after surgery, while it takes most players up to a year to recover. On top of this, he had to learn a new position (first base) which requires a lot less throwing than his former position. A remarkable comeback, Harper showcased his strong work ethic and willingness to adjust. For Bryce Harper, it was baseball no matter what.
