Two Circles launches internship to accelerate sports industry diversity

Posted on December 1, 2022 By Jason White

Two Circles has launched the Diversity in Sports Internship Programme, an initiative to help accelerate greater diversity and inclusion in the sports industry.

The range of six-month, paid internships – developed in partnership with Two Circles clients including Arsenal, Six Nations and the MCC – are targeted at individuals who have faced barriers breaking into the sports industry, from age, beliefs, sexuality, race, disability or gender, to financial, geographical, health, family or lifestyle challenges.

The first internships will be offered throughout 2023 and cover a variety of disciplines, including content creation, social media management, marketing, PR, and commercial. They will be open to current members and alumni of Diversity in Sports (pictured), which concluded its third year on Wednesday at a celebration event at Lord’s Cricket Ground.

Diversity in Sports, which returns for a fourth year in Spring 2023, creates opportunities and provides resources to help under-represented talent fulfil their potential, and boasts an alumni network of nearly 60 people.

Two Circles CEO Gareth Balch said: “We believe the sports industry will perform at its best when it’s representative of the audience it serves, and these internship opportunities will help even more deserving, talented people realise their career ambitions. We’d like to thank our clients for supporting us and the industry on the journey to greater representation.”

Pranav Soneji, Director, Content at Two Circles, added: “When we launched our first iteration of Diversity in Sports three years ago our long-term objective was to directly impact mentees’ careers. These internships will run alongside – and with the support of – Diversity in Sports and bring us a step closer to achieving that. We’re excited for the impact they will have for us, our clients, our growing alumni, and our future cohorts.”

The Internship Programme was launched last night’s celebration event, where members of the 2022 Diversity in Sports cohort joined programme alumni and industry guests from across the sports industry.

The event also featured on-stage discussions with MCC CEO Guy Lavender, the International Olympic Committee’s Global Partnerships Manager Mya Doelling (pictured below) and DEI specialist Birgit Neu.
