2020 Sports Event Tracker

Two Circles analysts track the number of sports events taking place globally against an originally-scheduled, pre-Covid-19 sporting calendar. Only events for professional, competitive sports events with a projected paid ticketed attendance of at least 5,000 (pre-Covid-19) are considered.

2020 Global Sports Calendar (Number of Weekly Events)

Covid-19 has rocked the entire world, and sport is no exception – professional sports events all but stopping globally from March through to June, before rising dramatically in number from July as rights-owners looked to make up for lost games.

Throughout the year, the Two Circles has tracked sport’s return to action in different countries, analysed how and when they’ve been able to come back, and analysed how this looks against the original, pre-Covid-19 schedule.
