We are over 1000 people, based out of 15 offices, and we deliver work for sports and entertainment businesses of all shapes and sizes all over the world.

As part of our ongoing growth, we are expanding our technology team and seeking an experienced Tech Lead to drive the technical delivery of digital products and solutions for our clients. You will play a hands-on leadership role, owning the engineering quality of various solutions, guiding teams through best practices, and ensuring our projects align with broader architectural and platform standards.

This role collaborates closely with Solution Architects, Product Managers, BAs, QA, and Engineering Managers to shape, build, and deliver scalable, high-quality systems.

You will work as part of a cross functional team and may be client facing when required. The types of projects and products are varied, from websites and apps to marketing and data-focused solutions.

You will typically work in one of two modes:

- Delivery: This is the primary mode and will be heavy-hands on working within a delivery team focused on the leadership and development of digital products and solutions. The nature of this will vary, however, will primarily focus on leadership of end-to-end solutions, technical ownership of customer deliverables, close collaborate within a cross functional team, and mentoring across project team(s) to ensure growth and quality outcomes.

- Discovery: Secondary to delivery, you will be helping our clients shape large digital products and technology projects. Providing technical leadership, experience and confidence to existing and new customers. The nature of these projects varies significantly depending on the product, technology and client, but they always require a curious and diligent mindset, and a focus on ensuring we are bringing technical confidence and positivity to complex opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hands on development responsibilities with clear leadership and accountability of the end-to-end engineering delivery of projects, ensuring high-quality, maintainable, and scalable solutions
  • Close collaboration with our technology leadership roles to ensure decision making remains aligned with architectural governance, security requirements, and other guidelines
  • Own the technical quality of the solution within the build phase, providing technical direction, decision-making, and problem-solving
  • Translate solution architecture designs and high-level requirements into actionable, pragmatic engineering tasks and implementation approaches
  • Provide detailed engineering estimates and assist in backlog refinement, sprint planning, and sequencing of technical work
  • Work closely with engineers to unblock issues, review code, and ensure adherence to standards and best practices
  • Mentor engineers across the team, fostering growth in technical skills, engineering quality, and delivery practices
  • Act as a key technical contact point for client stakeholders, third-party vendors, and internal teams
  • Work with Mobile Practice Leads (iOS/Android), Data teams, Cloud teams, or other SMEs as required to ensure quality outcomes
  • Ensure solutions follow security guidelines and contribute to threat modelling and secure-by-design practices

Requirements

  • A minimum of 8+ years' experience in a senior engineering role, ideally with some experience working in an agency/consulting context
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, and directly with clients
  • Proven experience as a Tech Lead or Senior Engineer leading delivery of complex web, mobile, or cloud-based applications
  • Strong technical capability in modern engineering stacks (primarily Node.js, dotnet, React, Next.js, cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure)
  • Experience with infrastructure management tooling and automation (IaC)
  • Strong experience with CICD and automation processes, including automated testing pipelines, zero down time deployments and defining/adapting CICD pipelines (GitHub actions, etc.)
  • Experience utilising and integrating with common digital technology used in sport such as CMS, CRM, Identity providers, Video streaming, DWH & middleware solutions
  • Competent in utilising documentation and diagramming tools such as JIRA, Confluence and Lucidchart / Visio
  • Have experience in various testing and quality approaches, including performance, security and accessibility testing
  • A passion for engineering and technology, strong problem-solving skills with a flair for finding innovative solutions
  • Ability to context switch as you continuously engage with client stakeholders, executives, project managers, designers, developers and QA resources
  • A curious and analytical mindset that makes you a great problem solver
  • A keen interest in sport or the sports business and real interest in the positive effects we have on our client’s businesses
