Two Circles analysts tracked the number of sports events taking place globally against an originally-scheduled, pre-Covid-19 sporting calendar. Only events for professional, competitive sports events with a projected paid ticketed attendance of at least 5,000 (pre-Covid-19) were considered.

2020 Global Sports Calendar (Number of Weekly Events)

Covid-19 rocked the entire world in 2020, and sport was no exception – professional sports events all but stopping globally from March through to June, before rising dramatically in number from July as rights-owners looked to make up for lost games.

Throughout the year, Two Circles tracked sport’s return to action in different countries, analysed how and when they were able to come back, and analysed how this looked against the original, pre-Covid-19 schedule.
