Diversity in Sports has opened for applications for 2023, the fourth year of the programme that has so far supported more than 50 talented individuals from under-represented backgrounds.

During Diversity in Sports: A Celebration, which concluded the third year of the programme with a networking event at Lord’s Cricket ground in November, it was announced that Two Circles and clients would also be supporting the next stage of cohorts’ careers with the launch of the Diversity in Sports Internship Programme. This programme will continue throughout 2023, with further opportunities for members of this year’s selected cohort to come.

Applications are open until 6pm on Wednesday 15th March.

The Diversity in Sports programme remains open for applications from anyone who has faced barriers breaking into the sports industry, from age, beliefs, sexuality, race, disability or gender, to socioeconomic, geographical, health, family or lifestyle challenges.

Founded in 2019, Diversity in Sports is a six-month mentoring programme that accelerates the growth of under-represented talent across the UK sports industry, powered by Two Circles. The programme continues to grow its community through tailored mentoring and knowledge sharing to prepare mentees for a career in the sports industry.

In addition to individually paired mentors, the programme will also include skills and development training, opportunities to hear and learn from industry specialists, in-person workshops, networking opportunities, on-site venue days and group tasks and projects.

Last year’s programme included regular sessions with guest speakers and experts, a Welcome Day at Two Circles’ London HQ, a team trip to experience a double-header of The Hundred, a live pitch in front of a panel of experts at Channel 4, and industry speed networking at Lord’s Cricket Ground.

Two Circles is committed to building a better future for the sports industry

“Two Circles is committed to building a better future for the sports industry, ensuring it represents the diverse audiences it serves, entertains and inspires,“ said Pranav Soneji, Director, Content at Two Circles.

“We’ve created a thriving alumni, exciting internships with some of our trusted clients and encouraged more colleagues to become mentors and help guide the next generation of sports marketeers.

“From its roots during the first wave of the pandemic in 2020, when the entire programme was delivered via video calls, the programme is now benefitting from face-to-face contact and learning.

“We look forward to meeting the next generation of sports marketeers in the coming weeks.”

Aadam Patel, who took part in the programme in 2022 added: Diversity in Sports offered a fascinating and thorough insight into the various areas that make up the sports industry, through regular sessions with experts and collaborative group work with my cohort.”

“Having our own mentors and becoming a part of the Two Circles community also alerted me to the vast array of opportunities on offer, as well as the ability to work with major clients.”

“The scheme has undoubtedly helped me to expand my skillset and broaden my capabilities, through taking on content work for clients like the Premier League and the ECB.”
