We are hiring a Financial Accountant. The Financial Accountant is responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial reporting across the balance sheet, profit and loss (P&L) and cash flow. The role plays a key part in the month-end close process, ensuring the integrity of the financial records through robust reconciliations, analysis and financial controls. 

Working closely with the wider Finance team and business stakeholders, the Financial Accountant will provide high-quality financial information to support decision-making while maintaining strong financial governance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Month-End Close 

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including balance sheet, P&L and cash flow reporting.  
  • Deliver month-end activities in line with the Finance timetable and support completion of monthly close checklists. 
  • Own balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all accounts are complete, accurate and supported, with reconciling items resolved promptly.  

Audit & Statutory Reporting 

  • Support external audit requests and provide audit schedules and supporting documentation. 
  • Assist with preparation of statutory financial statements. 
  • Ensure reporting complies with IFRS. 

 

Other Responsibilities 

  • Perform financial analysis, investigate variances and unusual movements, and provide clear commentary to support management decision-making.  
  • Maintain strong financial controls, including oversight of accruals, prepayments and provisions, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures.  
  • Support continuous improvement of financial reporting processes through automation, standardisation and enhancements to the month-end close process 
  • Work closely with FP&A to ensure consistency between financial reporting and management reporting. 
  • Support improvements to ERP and finance systems. 
  • Assist with ahoc projects. 

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

Essential 

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent)  
  • IFRS background  
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations  
  • Advanced Excel skills  
  • Strong attention to detail  
  • Ability to work well in a team and collaborate with colleagues  

 

Desirable 

  • Experience working for a SME 
  • Experience working for global business 
  • Experience in sports or a related entertainment industry  
  • Experience in a people-led agency environment  
  • Personal empathy with sports
