Diversity in Sports reveals largest ever cohort

Posted on June 30, 2022 By E-yan Sham

Diversity in Sports has doubled its cohort size for 2022, with 30 up-and-coming sports marketeers selected from a variety of different skillsets and backgrounds, up from 15 in 2021. Meet the 30 members of 2022’s Diversity in Sports cohort here.

Diversity in Sports is a six-month mentoring programme, run by Two Circles, that aims to accelerate the growth of under-represented talent across the industry.

As part of the programme, each participant will be partnered with two mentors from Two Circles, providing individually tailored support, training and advice to help expand their knowledge of the sports marketing industry . The group will also meet regularly for workshops, guest speakers and group discussions, developing a peer-to-peer network they can build on throughout their careers.

The free-to-enter programme is open to anyone who has faced barriers preventing them from fulfilling their potential in the sports industry – ranging from age, beliefs, sexuality, race, disability or gender, to socio-economic, geographical, health, family or lifestyle challenges.

The 2022 programme officially begins on Friday 1st July at Two Circles’ London HQ, where the cohort will hear more about what the next six months have in store for them, as well as meet some of their mentors. Mentors are selected based on the skills and aspirations of each individual, while group sessions will focus on wider knowledge of the sports industry, as well as network development.

Launched by LiveWire Sport in December 2019 as the Diversity in Digital Mentoring Programme, the initiative has been expanded this year as part of the acquisition of the content agency by Two Circles in February.

Pranav Soneji, Director, Content at Two Circles, said of the group: “A key part of our decision to join Two Circles was the company’s commitment to the mentoring programme; growing and expanding it into an industry-leading programme for all under-represented talent to establish themselves within the sports industry.

“Our first two years were a huge success but now we have a huge pool of knowledge across a number of specialisations – data, rights management, technology and, of course, content. This year’s cohort will receive a wider scope of guidance, advice and knowledge sharing than ever before, and we look forward to watching them become gamechangers within the industry.”

Applications for Diversity in Sports 2023 will open in January. Find out more here.
